We started the day at the Old Faithful Inn, with bison guarding one of the doors. They hung around for awhile with the males posturing, rolling in the sand, and chasing one or two people. Beehive Geyser erupted during breakfast and we ran out to snap some pics. Then on the road to Mammoth. Stopped in Lower Geyser Basin for the Firehole Lake Drive & the Fountain Paint Pots. Drove along Firehole Canyon Drive, but didn't swim in the Firehole River. Stopped at Gibbons Falls, had lunch looking at the Yellowstone Caldera Rim, and went on the the Artists Paintpots - where I got a good photo of a 'blurp' of mud coming up.
Then on Norris Basin for Geysers, Hot Springs, and various geothermal stuff. It was all fascinating and we never got bored of it. Hot, sweaty, sun-burned - yes, bored - no. Into Mammoth where the Elk were hanging out in the central square. We stayed in the small town of Gardiner, MT right outside the famous Roosevelt Arch.
